One person died and five were injured after a fire broke out following an explosion in the AC compressor at Waffle Mania, a restaurant in Tikona Park near Jamia Nagar, said a Delhi Fire Service official on Thursday.
DFS director Atul Garg said three fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
DCP (South-East) Esha Pandey said deceased has been identified as Nadeem, while the injured have been identified as, Danish alias Munna, Ajju, Saan Mohd, Bijay and Ikra.
Nadeem and Saan Mohd. were present at the restaurant to repair the AC.
In another fire incident, Mr. Garg said, “We received a call from Troy Lounge and Bar in Punjabi Bagh Club Road at 1.25 p.m. At least 12 fire tenders were sent to douse the blaze.”
No injuries have been reported, said Mr. Garg. Though the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, an eye witness said it happened due to a cable fire,” he said.
As the heatwaves and summer season intensifies, we are expected to receive more fire calls in May and June, he added.
