Officials gear up for Uttarandhra Teachers MLC election to be conducted on February 27

District administration prepares for Uttarandhra Teachers MLC election polling on February 27, with strict election code enforcement and security measures.
Collector Harendhira Prasad said that the district administration has started arrangements for Uttarandhra Teachers MLC election polling, scheduled to be conducted on February 27. He said that the election code has already come into effect from January 29.
Addressing a press conference at the Collectorate on Wednesday, Mr. Harendhira Prasad said that within 24 hours, all the photos of political leaders and posters of various parties will be removed in all the government offices and public places. He said that the Collectors will act as Returning Officers, while the DROs will act as Assistant Returning Officers (AROs).
Mr. Harendhira Prasad said that as per the Election Commission, notification for the election will be released on February 3, and the nomination process will begin at all the Collector offices, where a candidate can submit his nomination between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. He also said that the nomination will end on February 10 at 3 p.m., the scrutiny will be conducted on February 11, nominations can be withdrawn on February 13. The polling will be held on February 27, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the counting will be held on March 3, he said.
As per the final voters list available by December 30, 2024, there are about 21,555 voters consisting of 12,948 male voters and 8,607 female voters. He said that there are 123 polling centres in which Visakhapatnam has 13.
Mr. Harendhira Prasad said that 23 teams were constituted to monitor the model code of conduct (MCC) in the district. He also added that 11 flying squads were also formed as part of the inspections. Additional Commissioner of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), CEO of Zilla Parishad, RDOs of Bheemunipatnam and Visakhapatnam will be the nodal officers of the teams.
Deputy Commissioner of Police V. Ajitha said that all security arrangements will be made to organise the elections peacefully.
