Including California almonds in daily diets can play a vital role in supporting overall health amid today’s fast-paced lifestyle, said nutritionists at a session titled ‘A Handful of Almonds a Day: Natural Approach to Supporting Health in Today’s Fast-Paced Lifestyle’ .
Held in Vijayawada on March 25, the session featured Nutrition and Wellness Consultant Sheela Krishnaswamy and beauty pageant titleholder and entrepreneur Pragnya Ayyagari. They stressed the importance of mindful eating and balanced nutrition.
Citing World Health Organization (WHO) data, they said that lifestyle diseases claim six million lives in India each year, with chronic illnesses projected to cost the country $6 trillion by 2030. Poor dietary choices are a key contributor to this crisis, they warned, underscoring the need for healthier eating habits.
Ms. Ayyagiri said California almonds are rich in 15 essential nutrients such as protein, healthy fats, magnesium, calcium, dietary fiber and zinc, offering numerous health benefits such as blood sugar control, weight management, immunity-boosting and reduced bad and total cholesterol levels.
“Small changes can make a big difference like swapping ultra-processed snacks with natural options such as almonds. When juggling multiple responsibilities in both personal and professional life, these simple, smart food choices become powerful allies in maintaining overall health and well-being,” she explained.
