Hubballi Police shoot notorious criminal Pala Venkateshwar Rao from Andhra Pradesh during dacoity attempt, injuring officers.
The Hubballi Police on Saturday (December 28, 2024) shot a notorious inter-state criminal Pala Venkateshwar Rao alias Kalyankumar from Andhra Pradesh in both the legs when he tried to escape by attacking the police personnel who had arrested him.
In the attack by the criminal, Police Sub Inspector Pramod and police constable Anand Badiger have sustained injuries. The accused and the injured policemen are being treated at KMCRI Hospital in Hubballi.
Briefing the prespersons after enquiring the health of the police personnel and the injured criminal, Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar said that the notorious criminal was caught by the police when he along with his accomplices tried to carry out dacoity in the house of Vikaskumar, which is located on the outskirts of Navalur near Dharwad
The gang members were engaged in criminal activities for generations and attacked and robbed an elderly couple in Vidyagiri station limits of Dharwad in the month of June. In all the accused is wanted in over 50 cases in the four southern States, Mr. Shashikumar said.
He said during wee hours on Saturday (December 28, 2024) they made an attempt on carrying out dacoity at Navalur, which however was foiled as the inmates woke up alerted neighbours and also the Police.
Immediately launching a search operation, the police managed to nab Pala Venkteshwar Rao, who is one of members of notorious ‘Chaddi Gang’ having its origin in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.
The Police Commissioner said that the accused had informed about their gang members assembling at a particular point in the industrial area during early hours of Saturday. When they took the accused to the spot, he tried to escape by assaulting the police personnel and injuring them At that moment PSI Pramod first fired on the air and then fired two bullets injuring him in both the legs, he said.
