Fox News
The baby formula shortage in the U.S. is negatively impacting some food banks and pantries that serve lower-income clients. Derrick Williams, operations manager for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina in Raleigh, N.C., said its food bank is "definitely being impacted" by the shortage. Meanwhile, a pediatrician warns parents against trying to make their own infant formula at home.
"We are still able to operate, but there is not as much [baby formula] as there once was." "When the [COVID-19] pandemic was at its height, we were getting a lot of food commodities from the government — but that has stopped." "Homemade formulas can have contaminates because they haven't been properly handled. But more important problems relate to poor nutrition."
"We have seen very little baby formula, and we have had recalls on some baby formula," he said.
