Nikki Glaser Reveals 'Real Fear' Doing Political Bits Before Kennedy Center Gig

The comedian said the humor can be hazardous to your health.
Nikki Glaser slayed Tom Brady at a roast last year and launched zingers at the Hollywood elite during her Golden Globes hosting gig in January.
But the comedian admitted Sunday that she thinks long and hard before telling political jokes.
She made that confession before entering the lion’s den, the Kennedy Center in Washington. It used to be intended as a nonpartisan arts venue before President Donald Trump took it over and installed himself as chair.
Glaser admitted the situation was “the elephant in the room” before fellow comedians bestowed Conan O’Brien with the Mark Twain Prize during the ceremony and zinged the president mightily.
“Like, you just are scared that you’re gonna get doxxed and death threats or who knows where this leads, like, detained,” she told Deadline. “Honestly that’s not even like a joke. It’s like a real fear. So it’s unfortunate that that’s true, but I’m not gonna lie and say I don’t think about that sometimes and go, ‘Oh, god. Can I just say, I hope they all know, I can be up on the gallows and say I was just joking. I’m a comedian.’ I hope that that’s a defense.”
