Ashok Kumar Rai, Puttur MLA, on Thursday, urged the government to sanction an Ayush Hospital in his constituency as there was considerable demand for Ayush system of medicines in Dakshina Kannada district.
Mr. Rai met Health and Family Welfare Department Principal Secretary Harsh Gupta in Bengaluru on Thursday and submitted a letter in this regard. The MLA told the government that a 1.27 acre government land was already identified and earmarked the hospital at Kabaka near Puttur.
Though the government was prepared to provide an Ayush hospital in Puttur, the same did not materialise for want of land. The government has now proposed to set up such 30-bed hospitals in Puttur and Mangaluru (Ullal) constituencies, the MLA said.
Despite there being good demand for alternative systems of medicine in the district, it was not available in many parts of Dakshina Kannada, including Puttur, Sullia, Belthangady, Moodbidri etc, Mr. Rai said.

The Karnataka government has drafted a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the State’s highest revenue-generating temple managed by the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department. The redevelopment initiative is estimated to cost around ₹254 crore and aims to enhance infrastructure and facilities for devotees.
