Raising the issue at the Karnataka Development Programme review meeting in the Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi on Friday, he asked the government to reconsider the proposal. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan said that the plans are as per rules.
Plans are afoot to release around 0.58 tmcft from the dam. However, the water is not released from the backwaters but from the command area channels, he said.
Minister Satish Jarkiholi said he would get more details about the proposal.
