Minister for Electricity V. Senthilbalaji and Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare M. Mathivanan on Tuesday visited various parts of the district to receive petitions as part of the Makkaludan Mudalvar scheme.
Special camps were organised at Manavadi, Vellianai, Jagadhabi, Andankovil East and several other villages. The Ministers met the people and interacted with them to understand their needs. The Ministers subsequently received petitions from the people.
According to a press release, special camps had so far been held in two phases in the district. During the first phase, 20,746 petitions were received from the people. More than 32,000 people presented petitions in the second phase of camps. Nearly 53,000 petitions, seeking various welfare aids, have so far been received. The petitions received in the ongoing third phase of camps will be verified immediately. Depending upon their eligibility criteria, government welfare aids and others will be extended. Action on petitions will be taken within 30 days from the receipt of them.
