Ministers inaugurate 'Makkaludan Mudhalvar' camp in Sembanarkoil, focusing on public grievances and welfare benefits in rural communities.
The third phase of the ‘Makkaludan Mudhalvar’ camp was inaugurated in Sembanarkoil region by Minister for Higher Education Govi. Chezhiaan and Minister for Backward Classes Welfare Siva V. Meyyanathan.
The programme, conducted across Akkur, Pillai Perumanallur, Thirukkadaiyur, Memathur, and Iluppur panchayats, focused on addressing public grievances and distributing welfare benefits.
Mr. Chezhiaan stated that the initiative aimed to directly resolve grievances, particularly in rural and economically weaker communities. He assured that petitions submitted by residents would be reviewed by the District Collector and forwarded to the relevant departments for timely resolution.
Referring to recent welfare initiatives, Mr. Meyyanathan said that 2,039 beneficiaries in Mayiladuthurai district received housing pattas worth ₹15 crore last week. He added that petitions submitted at the current camp would also be processed and addressed. Citing previous efforts, he mentioned that following the 2022 heavy rains in Udayarkovilpattu, road infrastructure demands were met under the scheme.
The Minister also highlighted the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam housing scheme, under which ₹3.5 lakh is allocated per house to improve living conditions and eliminate slum housing. Additionally, ₹1.5 lakh is provided for the renovation of Adi Dravidar houses built before 2001.
The event was attended by Mayiladuthurai Collector A. P. Mahabharathi, Poompuhar MLA Nivedha M. Murugan, and Sirkazhi MLA M. Panneerselvam.
