Masked men loot gold, other valuables worth over ₹10 crore from cooperative society near Ullal on outskirts of Mangaluru

A group of persons carrying weapons barged into Kotekar Vyavasaya Seva Sahakara Sangha (which is a cooperative society), near Ullal on the outskirts of Mangaluru, on January 17, and took golden jewellery and other valuables worth over ₹10 crore.
The robbery took place when Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was in Mangaluru to attend a function organised to lay the foundation stone for building the regional centre of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).
Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal said that the robbery took place between 11.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.
A group of five individuals, aged between 25 years and 35 years, entered the Sangha wearing masks and carrying weapons, including a pistol, a talwar, and a knife. Five employees were present in the Sangha at the time of the incident, he said.

Preliminary estimates suggest the value of the stolen items is around ₹10 crore. A detailed assessment was underway, the Police Commissioner said.
Multiple police teams have been formed to investigate the case and apprehend the culprits, Mr. Agrawal said.
