Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a 61-year-old man with second-degree murder, in connection with the death of a Leamington woman.
On March 12, shortly after 2:30 p.m., OPP officers with the Essex County Detachment and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services responded to a well-being check at a residence on Sherk Street, where 83-year-old Anita Goodings, of Leamington, was found dead.
OPP issued an arrest warrant Saturday evening for a man who was wanted for second-degree murder, saying "he is believed to be dangerous and a risk to public safety".
In a Sunday afternoon news release, OPP said it has arrested and charged the man.
The OPP said the accused is being held in custody and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 16.
Anyone with any information about this investigation is urged to contact the Essex County OPP or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
