Malappuram, Vengara, Mankada vie for top position in school arts fest

Malappuram, Vengara, and Mankada sub-districts compete fiercely for the championship at Malappuram District School Arts Festival.
With one more day to go, Malappuram, Vengara and Mankada sub-districts were locked in a fierce fight for the overall championship in the Malappuram District School Arts Festival being held at Government Raja’s Higher Secondary School, Kottakkal, on Friday (November 29).
When 276 events were over on Friday evening, Malappuram sub-district maintained the lead with 721 points, followed by Vengara with 704 points, and Mankada with 700 points.
In the upper primary category, the Perinthalmanna sub-district was leading with 144 points. In the high school category, the Mankada sub-district was ahead with 301 points, and in the higher secondary category, Malappuram was leading with 327 points.
In the Sanskrit festival, the Melattur sub-district led with 93 points in the upper primary category and 88 points in the high school category.
In the Arabic festival, Perinthalmanna, Malappuram, Areekode, Kuttippuram and Kizhisseri sub-districts were vying for the top slot in the upper primary category. In the high school category, Mankada was in the lead.
CHM Higher Secondary School, Pookkolathur, was leading with 216 points, while RM Higher Secondary School, Melattur, was in second place with 208 points. Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Manjeri, was in the third place with 175 points.
There were 28 appeals against verdicts on Friday, 17 of them in the higher secondary category and 11 in the high school category.
