
MAHE presents degrees to 426 students in first convocation for online courses

MAHE’s online education initiative by partnering with the Ministry of External Affairs helps to make higher education accessible to African youth.
As many as 426 students from different countries across the globe received their degrees in the first convocation for online degree courses offered by the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) at Manipal.
While students from 22 countries attended the graduation programme online, students from South Sudan, Congo and Uganda, attended the convocation programme on February 8 in person. Students received degrees, including Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science (MSc) in Business Analytics, MSc in Data Science, Post-Graduate Certificate (PGCP) in Business Analytics, and PGCP in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, through a fully online learning experience.
MAHE’s online education initiative by partnering with the Ministry of External Affairs helps to make higher education accessible to African youth. In this first convocation, around 204 such students received their degrees under the e-Vidya Bharati Pan-African Scholarship Project. MAHE, quoting the UGC guidelines, said the online degree is recognised as equivalent to the conventional degrees offered on campuses. MAHE forayed into the online degree programs in September 2022.
MAHE Pro Chancellor H. S. Ballal said, “The convocation for online graduates highlights the significant milestone achieved by Manipal Academy of Higher Education in impacting the lives of the students in a better way as well as strengthening and maintaining the bond with international countries. This momentous occasion is not only a defining milestone for our graduates but is also a significant chapter in MAHE’s legacy, as we embrace the future of education in an evolving world.”
Vice-Chancellor Lt. Gen. M D Venkatesh said, “The initiative by MAHE is shaping the education of students from all over the World. The very first convocation for online graduates highlights MAHE’s legacy in embracing the future of education.”
Pro Vice-Chancellors Narayana Sabhahit and Madhu Veera Raghavan, Registrar Giridhar P. Kini, Registrar (Evaluation) Vinod V. Thomas, Online Education Director Manojkumar Nagasampige and others were present.
