( Stress on soil fertility
World Soil Day was observed by students of Green Management Programme at The American College. Inaugurating it, Principal M.Davamani Christober, in his address, said that the students should strive to protect soil fertility. Planting saplings will prevent soil soil erosion, he said. To mark the World Soil Day, the students took soil and made seed balls with neem tree, ‘pungai’ tree and ‘kodikai’ tree seeds in them. They made about 100 seed balls and planted them in Vandiyur ‘kanmoi.’ The students also went to the wedding of a fellow student and gifted these seed balls to the newlyweds.
