Telangana Governor launches four flagship welfare schemes to ensure progress reaches every citizen across multiple domains.
Setting the tone for the launch of four flagship welfare schemes at one go, Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma said the Government’s vision in launching these schemes span multiple domains including agriculture, welfare, food security and housing to ensure that progress reaches every citizen.
The Governor, during his Republic Day address on Sunday (January 26, 2025), made mention of the four schemes, Rythu Bharosa, enhancing investment support to farmers by ₹2,000 an acre to ₹12,000, Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa envisaging financial assistance of ₹12,000 to landless agricultural labour, issue of new ration cards and Indiramma Indlu, weaker section housing programme providing ₹5 lakh financial assistance each for construction of 4.5 lakh houses across the State.
He said the Government’s efforts span multiple domains, including agriculture, welfare, food security and housing ensuring that the progress reaches every citizen. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy formally launched the schemes at Chandravancha village in Kosgi mandal later in the day.
In his more than half an hour address, Mr. Jishnu Dev Varma referred to several initiatives, especially the implementation of the six guarantees, by the Government in its last one-year rule. He recalled steps taken to provide free bus travel for women and transgender, subsidised gas cylinders at ₹500, free power supply up to 200 units for poor families and enhancement of coverage under Arogya Sri stating that they would ensure equitable development and upliftment.
Stating that infrastructure development remained pivotal to Telangana’s growth, he said the expansion of metro rail would ensure sustainable urban transit and the rejuvenation of the Musi river was another ambitious initiative transforming the river into a vibrant urban space. These projects collectivity reflected the Government’s commitment to sustainable development of the State Capital and improving the quality of life of people who lived in it. “Let us all contribute to this vision, ensuring that our collective efforts lead to a brighter future for Telangana and India,” he said.
He said the construction of elevated expressways and the regional ring road would boost connectivity and mobility supporting economic and social integration. These infrastructure initiatives were transformative, creating a modern and accessible State for all its residents. The Governor referred to the recently concluded World Economic Forum meeting in Davos where Telangana could attract huge investments.
Agreements secured during the Davos summit brought investments worth more than ₹1.78 lakh crore solidifying Telangana’s reputation as a hub for IT, renewable energy and pharmaceuticals. These efforts were projected to generate 49,500 jobs and propel the State’s industrial growth. “By fostering a favourable environment for business and innovation, the State continues to attract global attention as a leader in industrial excellence,” he said.
