Video recordings by Carnatic and Hindustani music practitioners can be sent under these categories: children (below 12 years), juniors (13-19 years), and seniors (20-40 years). The recording should be under five minutes. Each entry must contain the name of the composition, the composer, and ragam and thalam for both Carnatic and Hindustani pieces. Only one five-minute entry will be permitted per participant. One person can send his/her entry only under one category. If two or more entries are sent in, one will be ignored.
Entries can be uploaded at newsth.live/MMC2024PA or by scanning the QR code given. Audio only entries will not be accepted.
The winners will be chosen by a panel of eminent judges. The judges for the competition are Vijayan Bhaskar, mridangam guru and founder of Laya Sadhana, the Percussion Academy, M. Lalitha and M. Nandhini, violin vidhushis and gurus; Lalita Sharma, Hindustani vocalist, teacher and founder of Swaraangan School for Hindustani Music in Chennai, Varalakshmi Anandkumar, senior musician, guru, and French professor, and Prema Rangarajan, musicologist and senior vocalist.
The contest offers a unique platform for artistes — from emerging talent to seasoned performers — to showcase their skills and connect with the timeless magic of Margazhi. Exciting prizes await outstanding performers.
