VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan criticizes lack of unity in Indian parties, calls for action against sexual violence and irresponsible decisions.
VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan on Saturday cited lack of unity among parties in the INDIA bloc for the loss in the Delhi Assembly election.
Addressing mediapersons, he said that parties such as the Congress, the Trinamool Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party, and the Samajwadi Party were not working together. “They should analyse their relationship, and seriously think of saving the country and the people. Unity should not be displayed only for Parliamentary election, but also for Assembly elections,” he added.
On incidents of sexual violence against women in Tamil Nadu, Mr. Thirumavalavan said that the increase in such crimes had become evident. “This pattern, which resembles the increase in incidents of violence against Dalits and minorities, should be taken seriously and steps should be taken to control it immediately,” he said.
He further appealed to the State government to form a separate police intelligence wing to handle cases of sexual violence.
Condemning the “irresponsible” decisions made by officials in serious issues, Mr. Thirumavalavan, hinting at the Tirupparankundram row, said:
Showing his condemnation against officials’ irresponsible decision in serious issues, Mr. Thirumavalavan, hinting at the Madurai district administration’s action in the Tirupparankundram row, said, ”Officials, as per law, should stand with the affected and the minorities. Their irresponsible actions have lead to serious problems. The problem flared up only when the district administration prevented the minorities from performing their usual ritual. The BJP and Sangh Parivar organisations capitalised on the issue to create a communal tension,” he added.
He further said that Hindus should be wary of organisations that misuse religion to polarise Hindus against minorities for their electoral gains. “When the BJP and its affiliates claim that they stand for Hindus, why don’t they speak up for the other problems faced by Hindus?” he asked.
