‘L2: Empuraan’ box office collection day 1: Mohanlal, Prithviraj’s film becomes biggest Malayalam opener
Records are meant to be broken, and Mohanlal and director Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2: Empuraan is doing its fair share of it! The film, the sequel to the 2019 film Lucifer, which was released on March 27, has shattered multiple records with its phenomenal opening at the box office. According to reports, the film made a record ₹22 crore on day 1 in India itself.
Trade tracker Sacnilk reported that L2: Empuraan collected ₹22 crore net in India on day 1. The first day collection news is the latest update on the much-awaited film which, its makers claimed, made ₹80 crore through reservations.
The ₹22 crore the film made comes majorly from the Malayalam version. While the Malayalam version made ₹Rs 19.45 crore, the Telugu version did ₹1.2 crore and the Tamil, Kannada and the Hindi versions collected nearly ₹80 lakh, ₹5 lakh and ₹50 lakh, respectively.
L2: Empuraan is produced by Antony Perumbavoor, Gokulam Gopalan, and Subaskaran under the banners of Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies, and Lyca Productions. Apart from Mohanlal and Prithviraj, the film also stars Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Sachin Khedekar, Abhimanyu Singh, Jerome Flynn, Eriq Ebouaney, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Indrajith Sukumaran.
