Accusations of medical negligence at a PHC in Kalaburagi district leading to a woman's death, demanding suspension of responsible staff.
Accusing doctors of medical negligence at a Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Kodli village of Kalagi taluk, Kalaburagi district, district president of Yuva Karnataka Forum Sachin Chavan has said that Lakshmi Rathod died after giving birth to a child due to gross medical negligence.
Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Mr. Chavan furnished the Mother and Child Protection Card of the deceased woman and said that neither the PHC staff nor the ASHAs tracked the victim’s health for the last three months during her pregnancy.
Interestingly, the PHC nurse visited the victim’s family on the next day of the tragic incident to get the card and made an attempt to mention fake blood test records in the card to show that the PHC authorities tracked her health at regular intervals, he said.
He said that the health check-ups for the last three months were not mentioned in the card on the day of admission on January 9, whereas the card was updated with all routine check-up details after the nurse visited the woman’s house on January 15.
Though the victim visited the PHC continuously for three months complaining about shooting pains on either side of abdomen, the doctors failed to respond to her, Mr. Chavan said.
The forum has demanded the suspension of doctors and staff members who it said are responsible for the woman’s death.
