CM Siddharamaiah unveils logo for Congress centenary celebrations and oil painting of the Anubhava Mantapa at Suvarna Soudha.
CM Siddharamaiah kicked off Day 1 of the Winter Session of the Karnataka Legislature by unveiling a logo to mark the centenary celebrations of the 1924 Belgaum session of the Congress presided by Mahatma Gandhi, at Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi on December 9, 2024.
A celebration committee, set up to commemorate the event and chaied by the CM, will organise programmes throughout the coming year under the banner “Gandhi Bharata”. Plans are also afoot to release a special stamp to mark the milestone year of the Congress session in the border town.
Mr. Siddaramaiah also unveiled a large oil painting of the Anubhava Mantapa, the country’s first Parliament. Anubhava Mantapa was a 12th century spiritual centre in Basava Kalyan where discussions, including political, were held.
The 200 sq ft image is of the spiritual centre as imagined by a group of artists. It depicts Saint Allama Prabhu, chairman of the mantap, Sri Basaveshwara, Akka Mahadevi, Madara Channayya, Ambigara Choudaiah, Siddarameshwara and Madiwala Machideva and other major Sharanas of the 12th century in the middle of an animated discussion.
The group of artists, including Satish Rao, Shrikant Hegde from Siddapur, Ashok U., Rupa M.R., Veeranna Madivalappa Babli and Mahesh Ningappa were felicitated by the Chief Minister.

The Karnataka government has drafted a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the State’s highest revenue-generating temple managed by the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department. The redevelopment initiative is estimated to cost around ₹254 crore and aims to enhance infrastructure and facilities for devotees.
