Jana Sena Party leaders advocate extending Visakhapatnam metro rail to Vizianagaram for improved transportation and economic development.
Jana Sena Party (JSP) leaders Avanapu Vikram and Avanapu Bhavana on Wednesday urged the Andhra Pradesh government to extend the metro rail project proposed between Visakhapatnam and Bhogapuram to Vizianagaram city.
Addressing the media, Mr. Vikram said that Vizianagaram would get the best transport facility if the metro rail project was extended by 20 km from Rajapulova junction to Vizianagaram.
“The government has proposed metro rail on a stretch of 76.9 km from Gajuwaka to Bhogapuram and other routes at a cost of ₹17,232 crore. Thousands of people from Vizianagaram travel to Visakhapatnam daily and they would be benefitted if the metro rail project is extended to the Fort City. It will also help develop Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam as twin cities,” said Mr. Vikram.
He requested inclusion of a proposal for the additional stretch of metro rail in its Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Ms. Bhavana urged the government to lay a 100-foot road from the Ice Factory Junction to Bhogapuram via Chintalavalasa. “Vizianagaram will be developed with the construction of the Bhogapuram airport. The laying of the road will boost economic activity along the stretch. The 100-feet road proposal is already in the master plan of the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority. We will bring the issue to the notice of Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan,” she said.
