JBM Auto poised to benefit from Union Budget's focus on electric tarmac coaches and EV battery production incentives.
The Union Budget’s announcement on adding 120 new destinations under the UDAN scheme is expected to drive demand for electric airport tarmac coaches.
JBM Auto, holding over 90% of the market share in this segment, is likely to benefit, said a top company official.
“JBM Auto is leader in tarmac buses and with the announcement of 120 new destinations under the UDAN scheme, the company is set to benefit,” said Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman & MD, JBM Auto,
Tarmac coaches manufactured by the company already operate in over 12 major airports, including Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad to name a few.
“We have the world’s largest electric bus manufacturing facility outside China, with a capacity of 20,000 buses annually,” Mr. Arya added.
The company has an order book of over 10,000 electric buses for various applications.
The move to prioritise CleanTech and offering duty exemptions on EV battery production, will enhance India’s battery manufacturing capacity, lower production costs, and encourage technological advancement, Mr Arya added.
