Mohun Bagan aims to overturn deficit against Jamshedpur FC in ISL second leg with strong home support.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant will be banking on the huge home support as it prepares to overturn the deficit against Jamshedpur FC in the second leg of the ISL at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Monday.
Having won the first leg 2-1 at home (JRD Tata Sports Complex) on Thursday, Jamshepur enjoys the advantage at the moment, which it can leverage to ensure a passage to the final. A draw against Bagan would be enough to secure a favourable goal-aggregate and propel Jamshedpur to its first Cup final.
Given its brilliant home record that fetched it the League Shield before the playoffs, Mohun Bagan will be hoping to regain the form which saw the Mariners keeping clean sheets while winning its last six matches at Salt Lake Stadium.
On the other hand, Jamshedpur FC has evolved as a giant killer in the playoffs winning the eliminator by surprising NorthEast United (2-0) at the latter’s home before snatching the win against a visiting Mohun Bagan in the first leg. This record will definitely keep the Red Miners confident in preventing Bagan from securing the two-goal margin win that is necessary for it to secure a place in the final.
“We are up against a top side which is the champions for a reason. But we have to stay strong, believe in ourselves, and approach the match with a positive mindset,” Jamshedpur head coach Khalid Jamil said.
Mohun Bagan head coach Jose Molina hoped that his team would find the right balance and form to win with the required margin. “We have to try our best as we are playing against a team which defends so well. This means we have to push for the goals and find the right balance to get the win,” Molina said.
