Indian Sports Centre, under the aegis of the Indian Embassy, conducted Ladies Throwball, the 7th event as part of its winter Khel Mahotsav at Hamilton International School. Including a team of lady doctors practicing in Qatar, 15 teams participated and fought for the trophy. National throwball referees Aravind Babu and Jojimon Devasia were flown in from India to officiate the matches.
After the group games and the tightly contested knockout games, defending champions Tulukoota Qatar retained their position for third consecutive year in a row, Dabang Warriors, emerged as the runners up, the third position was secured by Mangalore Cultural Association after defeating Mangalore Cricket Club in a last-minute stunner in the third decider set.
Kanjani Award winner PN Baburajan, well-known public figure in Qatar was the chief guest of the Event and was felicitated by ISC President EP Abdurahiman. The closing ceremony was also graced by Deepak Shetty, the Vice President of ICBF, Mahesh Gowda, Sushant Savardekar, Ramachandra Shetty, various community leaders and Presidents of various organizations.
Indian Sports Centre President EP Abdurahiman, Vice President John Desa, General Secretary Nihad Ali, Secretary Pradeip Pillai, Head of Throwball Sujatha Fernandez, Treasurer Aftab Gumani and Managing Committee members Deepesh Govindan Kutty, Deepak Chukkala, Purusotam Appavo, Tripti Kale along with Technical Team from Qatar Indian Association Hamza Yousaf and Ashif Hameed gave away the Medals to the winning teams. The Winners Trophies was handed over to Tulukoota captain Vijaya Shetty by Chief Guest PN Baburajan.
The ‘Best Smasher’ award was given to Vileeta Alvares of Mangalore Cultural Association, the ‘Best Catcher’ award was taken by Sherin Thompson of Dabang Warriors and the ‘Best All Rounder of the Tournament’ was Indira Kunder from Tulukoota, the closing ceremony was compered by Reena Castelino.
