India-UK Research Partnership Meet fosters collaboration in women's health research, featuring experts and policymakers advocating evidence-based approaches.

The inaugural India-UK Research Partnership Meet, organised by Fernandez Hospital Education and Research Foundation (FHERF) in collaboration with the University of Liverpool, marked a step in strengthening research and educational ties between the two nations. The event held at Fernandez Stork Home in Hyderabad on Thursday, brought together policy-makers, leading researchers, clinicians, and global organisations to foster collaboration in advancing women’s health.

Discussions underscored the importance of evidence-based approaches in tackling maternal and child health challenges. Delivering the keynote address, Shakila Thangaratinam, Professor of Women’s Health and India Lead at the University of Liverpool, highlighted the need for collective efforts in improving health outcomes. A recognised expert in systematic reviews and a key collaborator with the World Health Organisation, she underscored the role of research-driven strategies in shaping effective healthcare solutions.

The event also saw participation from representatives of the Governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, UNICEF, and leading higher education institutions. Indie Kaur, Director of Midwifery at Fernandez Foundation, stressed the significance of midwife-led care models in ensuring safe, respectful, and high-quality maternity care.
