In Massachusetts, first offshore wind farm begins transmitting electricity to grid

The U.S. has achieved a milestone as electricity from two prominent offshore wind projects, Vineyard Wind and South Fork Wind, has been successfully integrated into the grid.
Five turbines are installed there. One turbine delivered about 5 megawatts of power to the Massachusetts grid just before midnight Wednesday. The other four are undergoing testing and should be operating early this year.
