A 4-year-old from Connecticut got emotional after having to say goodbye to her "Elf on the Shelf" doll, but was able to give it him a one-time hug thanks to Santa's special rule.
"I thought, 'Are we going to have to go through this every year?' This is the worst part of Christmas," the mom of two from Granby, Connecticut, said. Genevieve Shaw Brown is a contributing lifestyle reporter for Fox News Digital.
But, it seemed that Santa had a plan for Lily, who became very attached to her elf.
