Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu focuses on creating wealth from waste, promoting cleanliness and sustainable practices.
The State Government is exploring all ways to create wealth from waste, said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday (February 15, 2025).
Addressing a gathering at the ‘Swarnandhra - Swacchandhra’ programme organised at Kandukur in Nellore district on Saturday (February 15, 2025), CM Naidu lauded the services of NGOs working for achieving circular economy.
“My goal is to achieve zero poverty in the State. The government needs to create wealth and generate income to deliver more welfare schemes and development works. In the last five years, there has been no revenue, but debts have piled up. Now, we are mobilising debts to clear the previous ones. This is a temporary problem, and we will overcome it,” CM Naidu said.
Highlighting the importance of cleanliness, he advised people to maintain personal hygiene and keep their homes, workplaces and surroundings clean.
“Dedicate every third Saturday to achieve Swachh Andhra Pradesh,” he said, and advised sarpanches to work for clean villages. He said the government would select the best sarpanch annually to encourage them.
On the occasion, CM Naidu made everyone take a pledge to keep the surroundings clean and spend sometime each day for it. He said organic/natural farming and terrace gardening was the need of the hour to stay away from pesticides in food that might lead to cancer. He also emphasised the need to bring about awareness on segregation of wet and dry wastes.
“After segregation, manure can be prepared from the wet waste instead of disposing it in drainages or canals. Today, we have launched such a historic initiative. The material recycling facility centre (MRFC) at Dubagunta with a capacity of 25 tonnes per day will segregate, compost and recycle. This will prevent accumulation of waste across the region,” he said.
