Funeral arrangements announced for teen killed in Aylmer feed mill accident

A funeral is set for Tuesday for a teenager who died after falling into the shaft of a grain elevator, as the Ministry of Labour continues to investigate his death.
Ryan Laarman, 18, was working his part-time job at Elgin Feeds Country Store, a feed mill in Aylmer, when the accident happened. Shortly after his death, his employers published a statement on social media, remembering him as having a "beaming personality" and passion for his job.
Laarman, who was born in Belleville and lived in Belmont with his family, had been working at Elgin Feeds for three years. He attended Grade 12 at St.Thomas Community Christian School and would have graduated in June.
CBC News reached out to Laarman's high school shortly after his death. Through an emailed statement, principal Jason Schouten said Laarman would be "dearly missed," and that the school community is working to support each other while they grieve.
"He loved music, art, basketball, hunting and spending time with his friends," his obituary read.
A visitation was scheduled for Monday between 3:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. at Redemption Bible Chapel in London.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.
The obituary also states that in lieu of flowers, Laarman's family would prefer donations to be sent to St. Thomas Community Christian School.
"This is the school where he grew up, and he was known and loved," it reads.
