Former CBI Joint Director V.V. Lakshminarayana supports merging Vizag Steel with SAIL for revival, demands government intervention for projects.
Former CBI Joint Director and Jai Bharat National Party president V.V. Lakshminarayana visited the Visakha Ukku Parirakshana Porata Committee venue, at Kurmannapalem here on Thursday.
He interacted with the committee members and leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lakshminarayana agreed with the committee leaders that the only solution to permanently revive the plant from its present crisis was to merge it with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and allocate captive mines.
He demanded that the State government ensure purchase of the VSP steel for the construction of the Amaravati capital and Polavaram projects. He urged the authorities to stop the voluntary retirement scheme and also fill vacant posts as part of efforts to bring the plant back to normalcy.
The committee leaders J. Ayodhya Ramu, D. Adinarayana, Varasala Srinivasa Rao, Dasari Suresh Babu, B.N. Raju, N. Ramachandra Rao, K.S.N. Rao and others interacted with them.
The event will run daily from 10 a.m. to 8.30 p.m., offering a variety of activities. Visitors can enjoy dance and music performances, hands-on art experiences, film screenings, and exhibitions from 10.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. These will feature folk cuisines, leather puppets, philately, textiles, and handicrafts.
