Flights delayed, diverted at Vizag airport

Flights delayed and diverted at Visakhapatnam airport due to bad weather and Indian Navy works, causing inconvenience.
Three flights have been delayed at Visakhapatnam airport while three other flights were diverted from the airport here on Wednesday owing to bad weather conditions and works being carried out by Indian Navy, according to the authorities here.
In an official communication, the Airport director S. Raja Reddy said that the delayed flights were 6E618/6E307 Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam-Hyderabad flight was delayed by 1.10 hours, 6E217/6E218 Bangalore-Visakhapatrnam-Bangalore flight was delayed by one hour, and 6E557/6E845 Chennai-Visakhapatnam-Chennai flight was delayed by 45 minutes.
IX2516 Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam flight was diverted to Vijayawada due to bad weather conditions (cloud patches in the approach). AI471 Delhi-Visakhapatnam flight was diverted to Shamsabad airport in Hyderabad due to the same reason. The 6E6285 Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam flight was also diverted to Hyderabad due to poor visibility at the Visakhapatnam airport.
“Other than weather conditions, the reason for the delay was due to works being carried out Indian Navy at the both extremities of the runway. This has resulted in non-availability of Instrument Landing System,” Mr. Raja Reddy said.
