Forest department squad arrests five suspects for killing wild boar, cooking its meat in Kerala village.
A special squad of the Forest department on Monday (February 10, 2025) nabbed five persons who allegedly killed a wild boar that fell into a well and cooked its meat at Valayam in Kozhikode district of Kerala. The suspects were identified as E. Binu, 43, A.K. Amal, 22, Rinu, 42, E. Jishnu, 21, and Aswin, 23.
The incident took place on Sunday. According to Forest department sources, the accused killed the animal weighing about 60 kg after it had fallen into a rural well at Valayam. Though they contacted the Forest squad for rescue support soon after spotting the animal, they later claimed that it was rescued and sent back to the forest.
However, the matter came to light following a flash inspection carried out by the special squad in the houses of the suspects on Sunday night and Monday morning. The squad from the Kuttiyadi range office managed to recover the cooked meat from two houses in the village.
Forest department sources said the accused persons, reportedly relatives, have been suspected of sharing the meat with 20 other villagers.
