
Felicitations, health camps, fun events mark International Women’s Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam

International Women’s Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam district included cake cutting, health awareness, and felicitations for women achievers.
Felicitations, cake cutting celebrations, awareness sessions on health and fun events marked the International Women’s Day celebrations organised in Visakhapatnam district.
The district-level celebrations were organised by the administration at the VMRDA Children’s Arena. Minister for Social Welfare and in-charge Minister for the district Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy attended the programme as the chief guest along with MLAs from all the constituencies.
During the programme, the Minister, MLAs and District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad distributed cheques and two-wheelers to Self-Help Group (SHGs). The authorities have also felicitated several women who have succeeded in various fields.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy said that the State government has introduced ‘Shakthi app’ for the women safety. He said that the government was giving much priority to the women’s welfare and various welfare schemes were planned for them.
The city police led by Commissioner of Police Shankhabrata Bagchi organised International Women’s day celebrations on the Beach Road. On the occasion, the department has felicitated all the women personnel right from the Home Guard, Assistant Sub Inspectors to the DCPs for their services in the society. The women police personnel were seen in a jubilant mood taking selfies and having a good time.
Anakapalli police led by Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha gave ‘Prathiba’ service recognition awards to the women police personnel in a function organised. In-charge Minister Kollu Ravindra, AP Assembly Speaker, Ch Ayyanna Patrudu and MP C.M. Ramesh attended the programme as chief guests.
Members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) organised International Women’s Day celebrations at the party office. Andhra Pradesh TDP president Palla Srinivasa Rao attended the programme as the chief guest. Women cadre of the TDP cut cake. The TDP leaders said that women voters of the State played a crucial role in the elections.
