Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren reviews revenue collection, instructs departments to explore new sources for additional revenue in high-level meeting.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday (December 2, 2024) held a high-level meeting with the Principal Secretary/Secretary of various departments regarding the fulfilment of additional responsibilities of new schemes started separately from the budget of the financial year 2024-25 and preparations for the supplementary budget of the financial year 2024-25.
It was his first departmental meeting after he assumed the post of chief minister for the fourth term. Holding the review meeting at Project Bhavan (Cabinet Secretariat) in Ranchi, Mr. Soren instructed to the officers concerned to accelerate revenue collection and also explore possibilities for new sources of additional revenue collection.
He directed all departments to prepare an action plan to increase revenue collection. The instruction has been given keeping the INDIA bloc seven guarantees promised during the election because funds are needed to fulfil them.
“Development work has to be accelerated in the state and revenue collection also has to be increased. All the departments should speed up revenue collection and explore possibilities for new sources of additional revenue collection. The revenue management should be strengthened and steps should be taken to control the wastage of revenue and establishment expenditure,”Mr. Soren told the press after the meeting.
He asked the officials to remove the flaws of the revenue generation system by doing micro level observation. He asserted that coordination among departments related to revenue collection is necessary.
Mr. Soren pointed out that many times due to lack of coordination between the departments, the pace of revenue collection slows down and revenue collection is not done according to the target. He directed that responsibility of the officers of various departments in the districts should be fixed.
“There are many agencies, boards and corporations in many departments which can prove to be a better means of revenue. Establish such agencies as a business model, so that they can expand their operations. This will give additional revenue to the state,”Mr. Soren said.

The Karnataka government has drafted a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the State’s highest revenue-generating temple managed by the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department. The redevelopment initiative is estimated to cost around ₹254 crore and aims to enhance infrastructure and facilities for devotees.
