Minister Muthusamy focuses on addressing voter grievances in Erode (East) Assembly constituency during byelection campaign.
Minister for Housing and Urban Development S. Muthusamy emphasised that meeting voters in the Erode (East) Assembly constituency and addressing their grievance is the primary objective of the byelection.
Speaking to the media at Sampath Nagar while campaigning for party candidate V.C. Chandhirakumar, the Minister noted that voters have expressed strong support for the various schemes implemented by the DMK government. He acknowledged concerns raised by voters regarding drainage, drinking water, street lighting and roads, and lent his assurance that these issues would be resolved post-election. “Our main goal in meeting voters is to understand and address their grievances,” he added.
When asked about Naam Tamilar Katchi candidate M.K. Seethalakshmi’s allegations that campaign permissions were being denied and cases filed against her and party functionaries, the Minister clarified, “The Election Commission, not the DMK, grants campaign permissions. They cannot blame the government,”. He added, “We do not disrupt their campaigns or those of independent candidates; we campaign within the time allotted to us.” Mr. Muthusamy also pointed out that a case had been registered against a DMK functionary, highlighting that the Election Commission is acting within the law.
Regarding B. Senthil Murugan, who was expelled from the AIADMK after filing his nomination as an independent candidate, the Minister said that he has joined the DMK and is now actively campaigning for the party. When asked if Ministers would participate in the campaign, he said, “The chances are slim.”
