Erikkarai Main Road in Thiruverkadu remains neglected for years together

Erikkarai Main Road in Thiruverkadu needs urgent repair due to potholes causing hardship to motorists and pedestrians.
Erikkarai Main Road in Thiruverkadu links Velappanchavadi and Noombal in Iyappanthangal. Thousands of motorists and pedestrians take it daily, but the road has not been maintained for years. It is full of pot holes, which cause severe hardship to motorists, especially those taking their children from Iyyappanthangal to the private schools at Noombal. Now and then, the municipality restores the road with construction debris, but the road gets damaged by the container trucks plying to the depot of Container Corporation of India. We request the municipality to repair the road.
M. Ravichandran, Noombal.
A senior official of the municipality says a resolution was passed to relay Erikkarai Main Road in July last year, but the work was not done for lack of funds. It has been planned to pave the road with concrete to prevent recurrent damage. The work will start soon.
An open space reservation at Krishna Nagar in Agaramthen near Tambaram was planned to be developed into a park. The Chengalpattu district administration allotted ₹22 lakh for the project. Thereafter, a compound wall was constructed. However, the district administration has failed to start the work. It has kept the area closed. And the area is covered with thorny bushes.
T. Subash, Agaramthen.
