
Ensure uninterrupted water supply in rural areas: ZP CEO

Dakshina Kannada ZP CEO ensures uninterrupted water supply in rural areas for summer, coordinating with officials and panchayats.
Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat CEO K. Anandh on Monday, March 24, directed officials concerned to ensure that there was no disruption in water supply in rural areas of the district during the ensuing summer.
Chairing the water and sanitation meeting at the Zilla Panchayat (ZP) here, Mr. Anandh said adequate precautions should be taken by gram panchayats concerned in this regard. If necessary, they could make use of water tankers.
Whenever there was need to cut roads to lay water supply lines, the panchayats should coordinate with the Public Works Department. There should not be any delay in executing water supply works, the CEO said.
Mr. Anandh said panchayats may get new bore wells sunk from their own funds if it was found necessary. The ZP would undertake rejuvenation of all existing bore wells, he added. He also reviewed the progress of various water supply schemes, including the Jal Jeevan Mission.
Deputy Secretary Jayalakshmi, rural water Supply Executive Engineer Raghunath, Panchayat Raj Engineering Executive Engineer Venugopal and others were present.
