Andhra Pradesh CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu advocates for empowering women through co-working spaces and work-from-home opportunities.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the need to empower women through initiatives like co-working spaces and work-from-home opportunities to ensure the efficient utilization of human resources. Speaking at a review meeting on Tuesday at the Secretariat, he stressed that women should not be limited to household chores but given avenues to contribute economically.
“Educated women should not remain confined to their homes as homemakers. With work-from-home models and co-working centres, we can create employment opportunities for them,” said the Chief Minister. He highlighted that many skilled women are unable to work due to family responsibilities, and providing them with suitable opportunities can enhance economic activity.
The Chief Minister directed officials to develop co-working and neighborhood working spaces, especially in rural areas and small towns. Training programs will be conducted to equip individuals with the necessary skills, and designated working spaces will be created to support their integration into the workforce.
Officials revealed plans to establish 1.5 lakh co-working seats by December 2025, requiring 50-60 square feet per seat. Both government and private buildings are being identified for these centers, with 22 lakh square feet of space already marked. Mr. Naidu also instructed officials to assess the current number of people working from home and their specific needs.
In addition, Mr. Naidu reiterated the importance of the Ratan Tata Innovation Hubs, directing officials to identify buildings in five locations across the State. These hubs will be integrated with local industries and educational institutions to foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
The CM concluded by underscoring the untapped potential of women, stating that facilitating their participation in economic activities will benefit families, communities, and the State as a whole.
