Doha: Dubawi Spectre’s impressive victory in the Brooq Cup was the highlight of the day when the Al Rayyan Racecourse came to life with thrilling racing action at the 12th Race Meeting yesterday.
In the colours of H E Mansoor Ebrahim S I Al Mahmoud, Dubawi Spectre secured his second consecutive win and cup race triumph as jockey Marco Casamento expertly guided the 4-year-old gelding, a son of Dubawi and Spectre to claim the victory by three-quarters of a length.
The win marked a double for trainer Jassim Ghazali, who had previously secured the Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for 3-6-year-olds win with Dhi Qar Zakhir (QA).
Owned by Ali Salem A A Al Marri and trained, the Ghazali-trained Dhi Qar Zakhir impressed by winning by a comfortable 6 lengths under jockey Saleh Salem Al Marri in the 1,900-metre race.
Meanwhile, in the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap (65-85) over 1900m, Hardan (QA), owned by Maryam Abdulrahman Y M Al Jaber and trained by Hadi Al Ramzani, prevailed by a neck under jockey Soufiane Saadi.
