Disappointing to see no special allocations for A.P. in Budget: A.P. Chambers

AP Chambers praises Union government for tax reforms, calls for more support for Andhra Pradesh industries and tourism.

Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) applauded the Union government for taking measures to boost consumption and welcomed the new tax slabs that will reduce burden on the middle class.

Addressing the media in Vijayawada on February 1, Saturday, A.P. Chambers’ president Potluri Bhaskara Rao said while it was a progressive budget, it was disappointing that there were no special announcements for Andhra Pradesh and Amaravati.

“The State stands second in food processing in the country. We have been asking the Union government to set up a national institute such as Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), and Coconut, Banana and Mango Boards in Andhra Pradesh. It is a bit disappointing that these were not announced,” Mr. Bhaskara Rao said.

A.P. Hotels Association president R.V. Swamy said the announcement of development of 50 tourism destination sites in the country and Mudra loans for homestay businesses would encourage local tourism, while A.P. MSME Industries Association president Bayana Venkat Rao appreciated the initiative to increase credit guarantee cover for MSMEs from ₹10 crore to ₹20 crore for startups.
