AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Tuesday (February 11, 2025) criticised the DMK government over its reported decision to convert the pond at Raveeswarar temple in Vyasarpadi, Chennai, into a paid parking lot. He urged the Tamil Nadu government to recall this purported move.
In a social media post, Mr. Dhinakaran said it was condemnable that the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, which was supposed to prevent encroachments on temple properties, was taking up this work.
Referring to protests by locals against the project in question, Mr. Dhinakaran stated that the five-century-old temple had held significance in the area since the Chola times and also served as a drinking water source for the residents.
