Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin inaugurated 17 projects, laid the foundation stone for 493, and distributed appointment orders to 559 individuals during a ceremony at Ripon Buildings on Monday (December 9, 2024).
The completed projects, valued at ₹29.88 crore, include three animal birth control centres in Lloyds Colony, Pulianthope, and Kannammapet, a new school building, an additional health centre building, two restored waterbodies, two parks, and eight new playgrounds.
The foundation-laying ceremony was for initiatives, estimated to cost ₹279.5 crore in total, which include the installation of 10 walkways, 148 school renovations, two urban health centres, three community welfare centres, storm-water drain systems, and the restoration of 12 waterbodies. Other projects include upgrading 291 Amma Canteens, installing new nameboards for 7,644 streets, establishing a nurses’ and women’s hostel, and improving the vegetable and fruit market in Saidapet.
The appointment orders were issued to 559 individuals — 106 on compassionate grounds and 453 on contractual basis. The contractual appointments include medical officers, specialist doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, and other health and administrative staff.

The Karnataka government has drafted a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the State’s highest revenue-generating temple managed by the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department. The redevelopment initiative is estimated to cost around ₹254 crore and aims to enhance infrastructure and facilities for devotees.
