Delhi Chief Minister Atishi highlights government efforts to fulfill dreams of freedom fighters and Dr B R Ambedkar.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Saturday said the Delhi government has been working hard to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of freedom fighters and the architect of the Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar by ensuring the right to equality for all citizens.
“Our Constitution envisions equal opportunities, and the Delhi government is working tirelessly to make this a reality. We have taken major strides in transforming people’s lives by transforming schools in Delhi, providing free healthcare and uninterrupted electricity,” Ms. Atishi said while addressing a Republic Day event at Chhatrasal Stadium.
She said her government has helped poor people by providing quality education. “Babasaheb Ambedkar’s dream and vision are coming to reality in Delhi due to access to education for all. Because of the quality of education in Delhi, the daughter of a factory worker can get quality education in a government school and then get admission into an IIT and study engineering,” Ms. Atishi stated.
Regarding healthcare, the Chief Minister said that due to the development work, people no longer have to mortgage their jewellery and house to access quality healthcare as the Delhi Government is providing it free in hospitals.
She said her government improved the city’s infrastructure to make travelling cheaper and more convenient. “Over the past 10 years, the Delhi government has improved the infrastructure by building flyovers, increasing metro lines, and providing free bus travel to women. This is the type of development that our Constitution envisioned,” Ms. Atishi said.
She urged people to remember the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country’s Independence.
“Freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi, Lala Lajpat Rai and Chandrashekhar Azad thought not of themselves but of the country. Their sacrifices give me goosebumps,” she said.
