Delhi introduces home voting for elderly and disabled citizens in 2025 Assembly elections, ensuring accessibility and participation.
Delhi Chief Electoral Office on Thursday (January 23, 2025) kicked off the vote from home initiative for those 85 and above or with disabilities for the Delhi Assembly elections 2025. The Election Commission of India (EC) introduced the home voting facilities during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. According to the EC, 6,399 senior citizens and 1,050 physically challenged persons have opted to vote from home.
On Thursday (January 23, 2025), home voting was conducted in three assembly constituencies - Tilak Nagar, Nangloi Jat, and Janakpuri. “I voted from home today. It felt like the EC was at the doorstep to ensure my participation,” said K. K. Khanna, the 93-year-old Janakpur resident.
The home voting facility will continue until February 4.
