
Cyclone Fengal: After overnight rain on December 2, downpour stops in Bengaluru

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate, and at times heavy, rainfall for the next 24 hours in Bengaluru and parts of Karnataka. Coastal Karnataka, especially Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts, has been receiving heavy rainfall. The administrations in nine districts have declared a holiday for schools and colleges.
Bringing relief to citizens, rain that was continuously lashing Bengaluru since November 30 night halted on December 3, though the sky remains cloudy. However, overnight rain caused traffic woes in the morning hours on December 3.

Rain that was lashing Bengaluru on December 2 has stopped on December 3, but cloudy weather continued.
According to the information shared by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), apart from trees and branches falling, no major flooding was reported in the city. Multiple roads, particularly stretches on Outer Ring Road, Mysuru Road, Bannerghatta Road, Marathahalli, Sarjapur road, Shanti Nagar road saw inundation. Motorists found it hard to navigate through these stretches at night on December 2 and in the morning on December 3.
According to the BBMP control room, a tree fell near Vidhana Soudha, and the same was cleared by the Forest Department. Trees and branches falling were reported at J.P. Nagar, Wilson Garden, Basaveshwaranagar and other places. But, no major damage was reported in the city.

The Karnataka government has drafted a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the State’s highest revenue-generating temple managed by the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department. The redevelopment initiative is estimated to cost around ₹254 crore and aims to enhance infrastructure and facilities for devotees.
