BJP State president criticizes Congress-led rally in Hassan as a diversion from MUDA case, accuses Siddaramaiah of hypocrisy.
BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra has said that the Congress-led Jana Kalyana rally held in Hassan on Thursday is an attempt at “show of strength” by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and to shift focus from the MUDA case.
Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, Mr. Vijayendra said that through the Jana Kalyana rally, Mr. Siddaramaiah is trying to send a message that he will continue as Chief Minister. But Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has tried to hijack the event, he added.
Mr. Shivakumar says that there is an agreement between him and Mr. Siddaramaiah on power sharing, but the Chief Minister has denied any such deal. Mr. Siddaramaiah and Mr. Shivakumar should clarify to the people of the State regarding the internal squabble between them for securing the Chief Minister’s post, the BJP State president said.
Accusing Mr. Siddaramaiah of “hypocrisy”, Mr. Vijayendra said that the Congress has nothing to show for development and welfare. The Congress leaders have no moral right to speak about welfare of the poor and farmers, he added.
Terming the guarantee schemes as an eye-wash and just a tool to lure voters, Mr. Vijayendra said that the Congress-led government deposited money into the accounts of beneficiaries of guarantee schemes when the parliamentary elections were on. The guarantee scheme money will reach beneficiaries again only when another election is announced in the State, he said.
Responding to disgruntled BJP leaders led by legislator Basangouda Patil Yatnal taking out a protest march against Waqf row, Mr. Vijayendra said that leaders like B.S. Yediyurappa and the former MP late Ananth Kumar have been instrumental in the growth of the BJP in Karnataka. He appealed to all party leaders to work unitedly to strengthen the party.
Replying to the statement made by Mr. Siddaramaiah that the Enforcement Directorate has no powers to investigate the MUDA case, Mr. Vijayendra said that the ED report has exposed Mr. Siddaramaiah’s role in the MUDA scam so he is expressing his anger and frustration against the ED.
