Annual float festival 'Theppotsavam' in Tirupati features beautifully-illuminated flotilla carrying Lord Parthasarathy's idol around temple tank.
The beautifully-illuminated flotilla carrying the processional idol of Lord Parthasarathy happened at the Govindaraja Swamy Pushkarini (temple tank) in Tirupati on Friday, the second day of the annual float festival ‘Theppotsavam’.
Devotees gathered in large numbers on the steps around the tank and had a glance of the colourful procession. The public shouted ‘Govinda Govinda’ in elation when the priests offered ‘Harathi’ to the idol. It may be recalled that the idol of Lord Ram was taken in a procession on the first day (Thursday). The processional idol of Sri Govindaraja Swamy and his consorts will be taken out in the subsequent days of the festival.
