Several people are being treated at Prince County Hospital Sunday morning in response to a house fire, Health P.E.I. says.
The hospital in Summerside, P.E.I., declared a Code Orange at 6:40 a.m.
A Code Orange is called when an external disaster or threat is likely to require additional hospital resources. During a Code Orange, additional staff and protocols are activated to increase hospital capacity in order to respond to the event.
The number of people being treated is five or fewer, according to Health P.E.I.
Health P.E.I. is asking the public to only come to the emergency department for urgent or critical issues at this time. Those with non-urgent concerns can expect long waits.
Anyone with health concerns or needing immediate health information can call 811 to speak to a registered nurse.
