A 57-year-old woman has died after being hit by a truck in the southeast Calgary community of Valleyfield on Friday night, police say.
Investigators said it was around 8:15 p.m. when a black GMC Sierra driven by a 38-year-old man travelling east on 50th Avenue S.E. toward 22nd Street S.E. hit a woman as she was crossing the road.
She was taken to hospital but died a short while later, officers said.
The driver of the GMC was not hurt and remained at the scene of the collision. Investigators note speed or impairment are not believed to be factors in the incident.
Officers said anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage of it is asked to contact police.
